Outstanding Cybersecurity Research Recognition!

We congratulate MTG Supervisory Board Member Prof. Dr. Johannes Buchmann on receiving the Robert Piloty Prize for his significant contributions to German and international IT security research.
It is with great pleasure that we extend our heartfelt congratulations to our Supervisory Board Member, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Johannes Buchmann, on being awarded the prestigious Robert Piloty Prize by TU Darmstadt. This honor recognizes his extraordinary contributions to IT security research and his influential work in advancing computer science in Germany, particularly at the Technical University of Darmstadt, where he served as Professor of Theoretical Computer Science from 1996 to 2019.
Prof. Buchmann is widely regarded as a pioneer of cybersecurity research in Germany and as the driving force behind major research centers such as CASED (Center for Advanced Security Research Darmstadt) and EC SPRIDE (European Center for Security and Privacy by Design). In particular, his dedication to developing cryptographic methods that remain secure even in the age of quantum computing stands out as a visionary achievement that has garnered international acclaim.
His numerous accolades – including the prestigious Leibniz Prize and the Konrad Zuse Medal – attest to his scientific excellence. The Robert Piloty Prize is yet another significant recognition of his lifetime achievements and his lasting impact on the fields of computer science and mathematics.
Since 2020, Prof. Buchmann has been a member of the Supervisory Board of MTG AG – a role in which he applies his extensive expertise in IT security and digitalization to help shape our strategic direction. We are proud to have him on our board and look forward to continuing our collaboration with one of the world’s leading minds in IT security.
