All Web-API Services for Suppliers, Grid Operators, and MSBs

Architecture of the DARZ energy@Web-API Services Solution powered by MTG (© MTG)
Our Web-API services include the following components:
In the energy market, each market role – whether supplier (LF), grid operator (NB), or metering point operator (MSB) – performs specific tasks and has a unique Market Partner ID (MP-ID). This serves as the central identifier for secure and standardized data exchange. To comply with legal requirements and market processes, each role must use one or more Web-API services.
- API0001 – Control command from supplier (LF) to metering point operator (MSB) or from grid operator (NB) to MSB, in line with the Universal Processes (BK6-22-128)
- API0002 – Information on the successful setup of a control command from the LF (feedback to NB or transmission system operator – ÜNB)
- API0003 – MaLo-ID query between grid operator (NB) and supplier (LF) as part of the 24h LFW (24-hour supplier switch)
- Directory service query according to BDEW Web-API – Automated query and provision of communication parameters for secure, standardized data exchange between market participants
- Directory service – standalone service resolving web service requests from third parties
- Maximum security & compliance – through operation in DARZ’s multi-certified German data center
- API000“X” – Future expansion: Our platform is continuously extended – new web services with additional API identifiers (e.g., for upcoming market processes) will be implemented on time and made centrally available from one source
Why having everything from one source pays off
Avoid unnecessary costs and complexity caused
by running multiple directory services in parallel!
By law, each market role is only allowed one MP-ID. However, if multiple valid EMT.API certificates with different URLs exist; additional directory services and configurations are mandatory.
The most efficient, compliant solution is therefore to book all required Web-API services – now and in the future – directly with DARZ. This eliminates duplicate directory services and complex multi-configuration setups.
Rely on MTG’s outstanding technology and DARZ’s secure infrastructure services.

Another Web-API service needed?
Combine or switch – both are easy!
Multiple providers automatically create more effort and costs. Still, combined operation of various Web-API services with us is possible. Some companies, for example, have developed and implemented their own solutions and wish to keep them but need an additional service (e.g., for control command transmission). Simply book the missing service with us. We ensure smooth, compliant, long-term operation.
Solution for combined operation:
- If another Web-API service with its own directory service (e.g., API0003) is used alongside DARZ, an additional directory service must be run within DARZ and the third-party service integrated.
- At the same time, the service booked with DARZ must be entered into the third-party provider’s directory service.
Switching providers
Unhappy with your current provider’s performance or costs? Switching to DARZ is possible at any time – safe, efficient, and with personal support. We provide a test environment with SM test PKI integration where you can implement and test your application. New EMT certificates are requested, and existing certificates revoked as part of the switching process.
With DARZ and MTG, you have experienced partners at your side: we guide you through every step, ensure clear processes, and guarantee your switch is smooth, compliant, and interruption-free.
EMT registration made simple and compliant with DARZ
Registering with the Smart Meter PKI (EMT.API) can seem complex – from security requirements to certificate applications and renewals. With DARZ, you have a service partner who takes most of this work off your hands.

As a customer, you only need to register once – DARZ handles everything else as part of the energy@Web-API services. This saves you time, effort, and avoids errors.
DARZ takes care of: compliance declarations (SM-PKI Policy), certificate application, issuance, configuration, integration, and timely renewal. Throughout the entire process, you have a dedicated contact person at DARZ to guide and support you. We ensure your certificates are compliant, secure, and delivered on time – without you having to deal with the details.
DARZ.CA: Quick and Easy Access to the Right Certificates
To use the BDEW Web-API, all market participants require valid EMT.API certificates issued by an authorized Sub-Certification Authority (Sub-CA). These certificates ensure secure, encrypted communication and reliable authentication – essential for meeting the new requirements.
With the DARZ.CA, a certified Sub-CA of the Smart Meter PKI in compliance with BSI TR-03145, you get the exact certificates needed for the 24-hour supplier switch and the secure transmission of switching commands to the metering point operator. Our solutions perfectly align with the energy@Web-API-Services, enabling you to integrate your processes seamlessly and efficiently. Rely on a solution that combines security, reliability, and smooth functionality.
